Whlist boldly going where no one has gone before Commander Data encounters an apparent duplicate of Data which is in fact a shapechanger—as well as the Borg which tries to destroy Earth and threatens to cause a big political ruckus, makes the crew act funny, and throws the ship thousands of light years off course so they do the obvious (eventually) and work out a clever use of the ship's transporter and so Picard delivers a speech, which means everything turns out okay, and everybody forgets it ever happened. Then, finally Troi says something cliche and they leave at warp factor five.
