Whlist investigating a time warp Spock apparently dies when the Enterprise encounters an apparent duplicate of an old friend which is in fact an android—as well as a Romulan captain with a grudge who ambushes them and depletes the shields to 5% but their opponent turns out to be just a kid and vulnerable to a show of emotion and so Kirk delivers a right hook, which means everything turns out okay, and everybody forgets it ever happened. Then, finally Kirk says something smug and they leave at warp factor two.
